VIAJE NA VIAGEM | MANIFEST | 17 YEAR CELEBRATION
There is no animation in this film. All actions were made manipulating paper, tied in wires/strings. Sort of a puppeteer theatre.
For the background and ocean, we shot from a distance, creating the illusion of 2D as well as 3D multi-cam.
The inspiration for it came from 50s animation style : a vital eye-popping decade of animation design, famous for the graphic,
stylized, abstract aesthetic abundantly found in educational and informative entertainment.
The briefing mentioned moving illustrations to inform about the company. Developing it in 2D animation or stopmotion, frame by frame,
would not make the deadline - so filming ecstatic illustrations on paper was a great solution that the client actually loved at the end.
All process involved previous planning, developing storyboards, drawing all concept art, cutting individual illustrations with scissors,
glueing all together with thick paper, and making an aluminium wired base, so each element would stand on its own. Some of them
were pulled using fishing line, and shot with a 3 layer background to create the illusion of false perspective on camera lens.
